Family in the Museum

SATURDAYS

MORNING

From 12 noon to 12.30 pm.
The ConteTREN (StoryTrain) of the Museum. We recount one of the three interactive tales from the Museum's collection: “Víctor i els trens del Museu” (Victor and the trains of the museum) "Víctor I l'ou que mou" (Victor and the egg that moves) or “Víctor i la petita Teresita” (Victor and Little Teresita). A child to whom the trains tell their stories. He likes to share them so that the little ones can enjoy the stories of “La Casa dels Trens” (The House of Trains). Don’t miss out!

At 1 pm.
A Museum Taster. Guided tours around the various areas of the museum. Want to know the reason for the width of the track in our country and how many more are used? The epic story of arrival of the railway at Vilanova? What do the numbers we see at the front of a steam locomotive mean? The evolution of train journeys throughout history? These and other questions will be answered on these visits. Come along!

AFTERNOONS

From 5 pm to 6 pm.
Visits to the Harlan passenger carriage. You will find out about the Harlan passenger carriage, the only coach that remains from the first train in circulation on the railway line between Barcelona and Vilanova and which was completely restored by the members of the Museum’s Volunteer Association.

FIRST AND SECOND SUNDAY OF MONTH

1st SUNDAY

From 11 am to 1 pm
LIVE STEAM with the Mataró steam locomotive. This activity lets you experience and see, in motion, the only replica that exists of the first steam locomotive that ran on the peninsula between Barcelona and Mataró. An opportunity to find out about the first railway trades, taking a tour of the museum from the footplate of the "Mataró" with the engine driver and the boilerman.
After visiting the museum, prepare your smartphones to feel like you’re a traveller on a high-speed international train. We’ll lend you virtual reality glasses to enjoy this experience. Do you dare?

2nd SUNDAY

From 11 am until 1 pm

The ‘Egg’ is on the move. A small train, a Draisine or handcar for carrying out track works, allows visitors to experience the magic of a trip along the bypass around the Museum, from the Baixador of the Pont de Pineda to the Pont de Senyals, located in the Passeig Entrevies. This historic vehicle, whose shape earned it the nickname  "Ou" or ‘Egg’, was handcrafted in 1940 by the railway workers and is also the hero of one of the Tales of the Museum collection.

At 12 noon
The beginnings of the railway and the "Indianos". Do you know who the "Indianos" were and how they are connected to the railway? Would you like to know about the passenger carriages on the first train that ran on the peninsula between Barcelona and Mataró? And the first that was to run years later between Barcelona and Vilanova? Well, this visit is for you! We will explain the important role the "Indianos" played in the origins of the railroad. Enjoy this "trip"!
